NP York looks straight through you on new single - Walk On By, out March 13th.

Like an analog snapshot of modern weltschmerz, NP York’s new single arrives with a fresh musical direction. The thoughtful artist from Northern Denmark sets words and melody to an apathetic state in a world that keeps rushing ahead -all recorded live in the studio with Kasper Kaae and Asger Techau at the helm.

NP York debuted in 2024 with the album

Music for Fools alongside his band The Fools. The songs were written in the wake of a depression, the band formed after he reached out to musician friends, and the indie-folk expression shaped through a shared musical community. It was warmly received on both radio and live stages.

But NP York never does the same thing twice. Restlessness is always lurking, and ambition drives him toward new challenges. The new single Walk On By reveals that he has moved into a space where melancholic and searching rock has taken hold. Like a descendant of Bowie, Reed, and Cash, NP York’s new single feels like an analog photograph sharply focused on the modern world.

“It’s a song about ending up as a spectator to the world instead of being part of it. About a news cycle and emotions hitting you with such force that, in the end, you’re no longer able to find your own direction or invest in anyone or anything. And then apathy and indifference become the only defense we can muster,” NP explains.

Walk On By was recorded live in the studio and bears the mark of NP’s uncompromising approach to his own sound and expression. Produced by Kasper Kaae and Asger Techau in close collaboration with NP, the single marks the beginning of a series of new releases from the ever-searching and inquisitive 33-year-old songwriter.

Walk On By will be available on all digital platforms via Iceberg Records on March 13.
