Jazz duo Mycelium blends a cinematic feel with a touch of pop on new single Dem Vi Var, out September 26

The Nordic jazz duo Mycelium, consisting of Thomas Andersson on piano and Daniel
Mølhave on guitar, is now releasing their third single Dem vi var, which will be followed
by their debut EP later this fall.
While the first two singles, Tjørn i Blomst and Ingarö, drew inspiration from the
Scandinavian nature, Dem vi var marks a more pop-oriented, yet also cinematic, side of
Mycelium. The track is carried by the smooth Les Paul guitar, inspired by Larry Carlton
and John Mayer, which gracefully floats above the piano, double bass, drums, and
strings – all hand-played in the duo’s living room in Søborg, where Thomas and Daniel,
in addition to being musical partners, also live next door to each other.
Dem vi var stems from old memos and compositions from several years ago – the sound
of the past versions of Thomas and Daniel, who had yet to realize that Mycelium would
become a reality. A chord progression and a melody fell perfectly into place, and the
result is a track that both honors the past and points forward to the musical universe
Mycelium is now exploring.

Musicians Thomas Andersson and Daniel Mølhave live in the same apartment complex. One
day, they decided to go mushroom hunting in the forest, and when they returned, they had
formed a duo: Mycelium was born. Their music is organic and carries the tone of the everyday
spaces it’s recorded in, which gives it a sense of intimacy and sensuality—like an informal jam
session in a living room, or out in the forest. Genre-wise, the project draws connections to
artists like Svaneborg Kardyb, Anders Widmark, and Bremer & McCoy.
