A Kaleidoscope of States of Mind from Youth to Adulthood

In 2023, Signhild received the award for Upcoming Songwriter of the Year from the Danish songwriter and artist organisation Autor and was the same year highlighted by GAFFA as one of the most promising names on the Danish music scene. With the album Kaleidoscope, released on March 6, 2026, Signhild unfolds a playful and exploratory musical universe that reflects the fluidity and boundary-pushing nature of youth. The album functions as a kaleidoscope of moods, realizations, and inner movements experienced in the transition from youth to young adulthood.

Thematically, Kaleidoscope revolves around emotions such as loneliness and heartbreak, but also addresses generational conflict, the search for identity, and the unease that comes with witnessing an uncertain world. The album weaves together personal narratives and offbeat portraits, allowing the intimate and concrete to exist alongside the universal. These themes are mirrored in a sonic landscape marked by strong contrasts, sudden shifts, and a clear willingness to let the compositions move in multiple directions. A recurring and unifying element is a string trio, with arrangements written by Anna Sofie Joest Andersen, adding fragility, intensity, and depth to the music. Taken as a whole, Kaleidoscope emerges as an honest and sensuous album that embraces the fragmented, unpredictable, and ever-changing nature of being young.

“Forces”

“Forces” is a hypnotic alt-pop/indie-rock single that captures the feeling of being trapped in a mechanical and claustrophobic society of cardboard boxes, straight lines, hamster wheels, and empty entertainment. The song portrays the experience of feeling like an outsider — a “grinch-green alien” — in a world that feels rigid and conformist. Out of boredom grows a desire for change: the urge to break free, leave the party, and find a place where there is room to breathe and live outside the box.
